Tips for consignees
- Establish clear, written customs procedures, both internally and with your customs broker and/or carrier.
- Maintain close communication with your customs broker and/or carrier to ensure that all required information is submitted in good time before border crossing.
- Ensure that all information required for declaring the goods is provided to the customs broker/carrier in time. This includes, for example, information about procedure codes, classification, origin, terms of delivery, invoice value and weight.
- Clarify which party in the value chain is responsible for submitting information to Norwegian Customs, and ensure that the information is consistent.
- Be prepared early and make sure that all required documentation is available before the goods are declared. The documentation must contain correct and sufficient information, such as:
- invoices
- proof of origin (EUR1 / invoice declaration)
- duty reductions (TNT / TNT‑RÅK)
- any required permits
- other necessary documents
Information for subcontractors and partners
To support the transition to Digitoll, Norwegian Customs has prepared a letter that the industry can use as an official reference document. Foreign suppliers, who often ship goods before providing Information, must now ensure that the correct details are communicated to Norwegian companies. The link to the letter explains the new requirements for declarations no later than at border crossing.
We hope this helps reach consignees, suppliers, and transporters abroad and fosters progress. Norwegian Customs will also share the letter within its International networks.
