On the same date, the direct clearance scheme will also be discontinued. This is a scheme that allows the declarant to submit a customs declaration before the border crossing. Read more about direct customs clearance.
With Digitoll, businesses submit information about transport and goods digitally to the Norwegian Customs. The earlier the information is submitted, the greater the likelihood that it will have been processed before the transport reaches the border. When the information has been processed in advance, the transport may be granted automated border crossing, and the goods may be automatically released to the selected customs procedure.
As far as possible, the Norwegian Customs will priorities the processing of transport that have fulfilled the digital notification and disclosure of information obligation through Digitoll.
During the initial period following 15 September, the Norwegian Customs will focus on guidance in cases where errors or omissions are identified. This approach is intended to help businesses comply with the new requirements and ensure a smooth transition while maintaining an efficient flow of goods.
